Annotation

 

General psychiatry: The content is focused on propedeutics and symptomatology. Practical education in lecture rooms and at bedside.

Topics: Psychiatric history, psychiatric interview, and assessment. Methods in psychiatry, psychopathology of individual psychic functions. Biological therapy, psychotherapy.

Special psychiatry: The content is focused on manifestation, diagnosis, and treatment of main psychiatric disorders.

Data collection and preparation, data analysis, statistical methods (including optimal choice of methods), interpretation and presentation of results.

Annotation

 

Neuroimaging belongs to the main stream of contemporary psychiatric research. Neurobiology of psychiatric conditions, dissection of heterogeneous clinically defined conditions into biologically meaningful subtypes, structure-function relationships, prediction of treatment outcome are all fields of application of neuroimaging methods. Contemporary methods of morphological and functional analysis (volumetry, computational morphometry, voxel-based morphometry, deformation-based morphometry, diffusion-tensor imaging, tractography, functional MRI issues – activation paradigms, connectivity…) and their application in psychiatric research, together with the main findings in psychiatric conditions, are described during the course.

Annotation

 

Brain neurostimulation techniques have become a more important part of the biological treatment in psychiatry. Their utility is in neuropsychiatric research too. They can influence specific brain areas and involved neuronal networks associated with the presumed basis of mental illness. There are several techniques such as repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation, deep brain stimulation, vagus nerve stimulation or magnetic convulsive therapy. The main study project will be aimed at detailed description of each method and their application in clinical practice or research. The real action of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation will be included in the study.
