Requirements

Basic Requirements When Leaving the Czech Republic:

The GMC (General Medical Council) will ask for the following documents:

Photocopy of passport
Diploma (Copy of Original & Translated)
State Examination Supplement (Copy of Original & Translated)
Letter of Good Standing – HAS TO BE LESS THAN 3 MONTHS OLD

The basic letter must has your full name, diploma number, when you graduated and stating that he/she is able to continue onto FY1 in UK. (The University registrar should be familiar with this letter, seen as the GMC have been asking for this letter for the last 10 yrs.)

Compliancy Letter (Translated) - The GMC states on their website:

“A Compliancy Letter from the Czech Ministry of Health which confirms that the training leading to the award of your primary medical qualification meets the standards laid down by Article 24 of Directive 2005/36/EC”

Requirements to obtain this letter:

1) Medical Examination Report – At your hospital that you trained in, they will give you a medical examination where they check your urine, blood, CXR and physical examination. After a week or so they will give you a signed letter saying your fit to work. THIS HAS TO BE LESS THAN 3 MONTHS OLD

2) Czech Criminal Record Check – Take your passport and ask for “Check-Point”. THIS HAS TO BE LESS THAN 3 MONTHS OLD

3) Copy of Diploma – Take the original Diploma, just in case.

4) Copy of State Examination Certificate – Take the original, just in case.

5) Photocopy of passport

6) Application Form – The Application is 5 pages long. Only fill in the 1st page and half the 2nd page (only upto “ad b:”). Then sign and date, at bottom of 4th page. Leave the rest blank, as the Ministry will sort it out.

Also you will require a stamp worth 500kc, which can be purchased from your local post office – ask for “kolek v hodnote 500kc“. Once you receive it, paste into the box provided at top of 1st page of application (“Místo pro kolek v hodnotě 500,- Kč/The stamp worth 500,-Kč“).

Once you have all these documents, get in touch with the Ministry Of Health in Prague!

Make an appointment, travel to Prague and at the reception ask for the person that you were supposed to meet, she will come down and go through your application. Do not forget to take the documents that you have provided!

POINTS TO NOTE:

1) Anything that is translated should be done by a registered/sworn Translator of the English language appointed by a Regional Court. Your university should provide you with one in any case im assuming.

Olomouc Trip

In May 2011, MIMSA organised an educational trip to Palacky University, Olomouc, where former graduates handed out advice to students, who were interested in working in the U.K.
