The city lies on the banks of Vltava around the originally gothic castle complex. It`sarchitectural heritage has remained intact for more than five centuries. There is thesecond most extensive castle grounds after Prague castle in the republic. The monumentalreservation includes over 300 Gothic and Renaissance buildings. Český Krumlov is animportant centre of culture, because there are six museums, a well-known City theatreand in the summer the actors act out in the garden of the castle in a revolvingauditorium.
