Requirements:

1. Attendance in lectures and practices is compulsory, the presence of students is recorded.
2. The lessons are organized in three weeks blocks. Every block of lessons consists of lectures (15 hours) and practicals (30 hours).
3. The examination at the end of the lessons has two parts: practical and oral.

Programme for the 4th and 5 th years:

1st Week
1st day	Lecture:
	History and development of ophthalmology. Basic information. Organization of department, medical documentation.
2nd day	Practice:
	Fundamental diagnostics method (visual acuity, biomicroscopy of the anterior segment of eye).
3rd day	Lecture:
	Affection of the anterior segment of the eye and adnexa.
	Practice:
	Diagnosis and therapy diseases of the anterior segment (red reflex, tonography, endothelial microscopy, topography of the cornea).
4th day	Lecture:
	Pedoophthalmology (evolution of the organ, diseases and therapy in childhood).
	Practice:
	Department of pedoophthalmology.
5th day	Lecture:
	Diseases of the lens and vitreous.
	Praactice:
	Special diagnostics method (ophthalmoscopy, ultrasonography).
2nd Week
6th day	Lecture:
	Traumatology of the eye. Sharp, blunt, chemical and physical injury.
	Practice:
	Diagnosis (RTG, CT, NMR, localization intraocular bodies) and management of therapy (vitreoretinal surgery).
7th day	Lecture:
	Retinal and chorioretinal diseases. Diagnostics and therapy.
	Practice:
	Ophthalmoscopy, panfundoscopy, fluoroangiography.
8th day	Lecture:
	Glaucoma. Conservative and surgical therapy.
	Practice:
	Visual field. Static and kinetic perimetry, tonography, gonioscopy.
9th day	Lecture:
	Pedoophthalmology. Strabismus. Examination and therapy.
	Practice:
	Department of pedoophthalmology.
10th day	Lecture:
	Physiology and pathology of visual pathway.
	Practice:
	ERG, VEP, Vision in dark.
3rd Week
11th day	Lecture:
	Surgery of the eye and adnexa. Cataract, retinal and vitreoretinal surgical procedures.
12th day	Lecture:
	Lasers in ophthalmology. The present and future.
	Practice:
	Laboratory (Nd-YAG, Argon-Dye, Excimer).
13th day	Lecture:
	Myopia, hypermetropia a astigmatismus. Refractive surgery.
	Practice:
	Examination. The method of corrections.
14th day	Lecture:
	Pedoophthalmology. The most common diseases of childhood.
	Practice:
	Department of pedoophthalmology.
15th day	Discussion. Checking test of knowledge.
