WHAT I DO:

Work as head of the Center for Healthcare Quality, Masaryk University, Faculty of Medicine in coordinating programs of health system quality management (Standards of Efficient Medical Care, performance measurement, management tools implementation and general „principles and philosophy“ of healthcare quality implementation). Use unstructured fulltext based approaches and computer linguistics for medical information management. Teach superb students of the Brno Medical School of the Masaryk University to understand and use information and communication (general concepts, skills, attitudes, benefits, limitations, risks and technologies) as support for their activities and in preparation for their future professional needs. Perform IVF and other forms of assisted reproduction treatment, both gynecology and the embryology lab part (cannot decide what I like doing more). Worked with ESQH (European Society for Quality in Healthcare), DG SANCO / DG SANTE, CEESTAHC (Central and Eastern European Society for Technology Assessment in Health Care www.ceestahc.org), EHFF (European Health Futures Forum www.ehff.eu ), EXPH ( DG SANTE Expert Panel on Efficient Investment in Health, see opinions from year 2018 and 2019 https://ec.europa.eu/health/expert_panel/opinions_en and especially the “Assessing the Impact of Digital Transformation of Health Services” listed among the 100 most important publications published by EU in 2019. Ready to team with anyone interested in quality, accountability and improvement in health services, healthcare and education. Constantly on the lookout for tools enabling easier real-time access to and management of data, information, knowledge, concepts. I am on the editorial board of International Journal of Reliable and Quality E-Healthcare (IJRQEH) (if you are interested you may have a sneak preview on HC management or HC education) and International Journal of Health Care Quality Assurance (IJHCQA). Love to think, reflect, ski, hike and spend time with my family and friends - who tolerate my activities (my wife Ludmila heads the hematological morphology lab of the second largest University hospital in Czech Republic, my daughter Elisabeth holds master degree in nursing with her thesis focused on teamwork in healthcare and son Jan is a pediatrician with some of his activities to be found at http://oual.rajce.idnes.cz/). I am also a proud grandfather to three granddaughters and one grandson. I enjoy traveling, meeting with people and hosting people when they come to the Czech Republic. In slips of spare time I still work as a general gynecologist and head of the L’ART center (www.ivf.cz).
