What experiences make you a great ambassador?
Coming from a huge city like Tokyo to a much smaller, quieter town like Brno, I certainly felt a cultural difference in the beginning. I understand that it can be very difficult at times to adjust to a new life, with new friends, and new studies. However, Brno is very lovable, and it has so much to offer. With guidance and help from us, I really want everyone to find a home away from home here as well. Also, being the charity board member at Mimsa this year has allowed me to interact a lot more with the local community.

What advice would you give to new students?
Self care is very important! Things can get very busy and stressful very fast in med school, but it’s important to understand your physical and mental limits, and learn to prioritise yourself so that you can maintain a healthier relationship with school work.
Also, in the midst of never-ending exams, it’s easy to forget that sometimes it’s important to stop, look back, and see how far you’ve come! Celebrate, be proud, and give yourself a pat on the back for every accomplishment, so that it motivates you to keep moving forward!

What do you love most about Brno?
Brno is such an up-and-coming and trendy place especially for students. There are new cafes opening around the corners all the time! I happen to be a huge foodie, so in my free time I love to explore Brno and eat at all these great restaurants and cafes, and speak to all these incredibly talented chefs… then come home and write food reviews about it!
