The EPUAP Masterclass 2026 – Not Only About Pressure Ulcers – is behind us. Three inspiring days in Brno (27–29 June 2026) brought not only a wealth of new knowledge, but also new professional connections and the creation of fresh plans to improve the quality of care for patients at risk of developing, or already suffering from, pressure ulcers, as well as similar skin and tissue injuries.
Together with participants, speakers and organisers from across Europe and beyond (a total of participants came from 15 countries, including South Africa, Canada and New Zealand), we explored the latest knowledge and practical approaches to the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers through lectures, workshops, case-based discussions, simulations, and hands-on training.

These activities ensured that participants were not only highly satisfied with the professional content of the three-day event, but particularly appreciated the facilities of the Faculty of Medicine at Masaryk University, its technical resources, and the friendly and supportive approach of all colleagues they encountered. Finally, they also highlighted the strong collaboration with university hospitals and other healthcare providers across the city of Brno.

Participants left Brno with new knowledge, new contacts, and fresh inspiration to further improve the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers in clinical practice across Europe. Their impressions are best captured by one of the images, where motivation emerged as the key theme.
Despite the heatwave, many interested visitors made their way to the Medicinal Herbs Centre during the 64th Medicinal Plant Exhibition. They were drawn by the blooming botanical garden and a panel exhibition titled Poppy, Cannabis, Drugs: Helpers and Tempters of Humanity.
Ten guests and inspiration spanning a wide range of disciplines. The second season of Breakfast with a Scientist once again brought together researchers, students, teachers, and clinicians. The third season of this unique series of informal gatherings will begin on 22 September.
