JobMED: Opening Doors to Healthcare Practice
In a single day, students from the Faculty of Medicine at Masaryk University — as well as secondary‑school students — can take a confident step towards their future practice and discover the breadth of opportunities in the Czech healthcare sector. Look forward to hands‑on workshops, one‑to‑one CV consultations and, above all, clear guidance on choosing your path, building valuable contacts and understanding the steps that lead to a role in healthcare. The event takes place on Wednesday 15 October 2025 at the University Campus Bohunice.
On Wednesday, October 15, 2025, students of medicine, pharmacy, and other healthcare fields will meet with people who work in the fields of healthcare every day at the Bohunice University Campus. The third annual JobMED Fair and Conference will connect the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University (MED MUNI) and students from medical schools and high schools with hospitals, clinics, and professionals in the field. In one day, they will gain inspiration, real contacts, and concrete steps on how to start their careers.
JobMED was created as a bridge between education and practice. In 2023, it attracted 34 exhibitors and offered 11 workshops, including simulations at the Simulation Centre of the MU Faculty of Medicine (SIMU). Last academic year, the event evolved into a conference featuring five panel discussions on topics ranging from workplace adaptation to interview preparation, with a large number of students taking advantage of the opportunity to have their CVs reviewed. This year, we are building on this experience and adding even more space for meetings with recruiters, practical skills, and data that can be used for planning.
Starting in the morning, a program will run in the lecture hall that addresses the most important things at the start – how to write a resume that will open doors, how to talk to recruiters, and what to watch out for so that you can enter the workforce without unnecessary stumbles. Career advisors will lead the "How to Write a CV" block from the MUNI Career Centre in the morning and afternoon. Eva Jiráčková, deputy director of the South Moravian Emergency Medical Service, and Michaela Bothová, spokesperson for the South Moravian Ambulance Service, will give us a glimpse into a world where speed, responsibility, and adrenaline come together. This will be followed by a panel discussion with recruiters from St. Anne's University Hospital in Brno (FNUSA) and the Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute (MOU), which will focus on the practical aspects of graduates entering professional life and offer advice on how to make a good impression during a job interview.
Professor Ladislav Dušek will present the future of medicine in data and context. He will show where the greatest demand for doctors and non-medical professions will be in the coming years and how the needs of the South Moravian Region are developing. Michal Koščík will offer a practical advice for transitioning into employment: when you can work during your studies, what graduates are allowed to do before and after their internship, and how to read an employment contract. And if you are interested in the connection between clinics, research, and innovation, you can take a look at the world of medical cannabis at FNUSA – from the grow room to specific uses for patients.
At the same time, intensive hands-on blocks will be held in the workshop room. At the ultrasound stations, you will try out the insertion of peripheral and central venous and arterial catheters on the U-S mentor simulator under the guidance of Dr Martin Janků. The ARO workshop will guide you through the ABCDE approach, securing the airways, and intraosseous access. In the afternoon, plastic surgery will follow, focusing on tendons, and in the evening, vascular surgery. Capacity is intentionally limited so that each participant gets hands-on experience—registration is therefore required.
Still wondering why you should come? Let's sum it up: the right information at the right time shortens the path to the field that suits you. You will meet people who can take you on an internship or remember you for when you start. You will leave with a revised CV, a clearer idea of the benefits and residency positions, and even how to combine clinical work with doctoral studies. And most importantly, you will find out where you are needed – not just based on your feelings, but according to data.
JobMED 2025 is organised by the MU Career Centre, the MU Faculty of Medicine, and the MU Faculty of Medicine Medical Students' Association.
