A unique event focused on health prevention and education will take place at the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University on 7 April 2025. MEDay will offer students and staff the opportunity to undergo sixteen different preventive health screenings and consultations, all in one day on the 2nd floor of the South Corridor.

Put health first - simply, quickly, in one place

Health is our most precious asset, but we often don't have time for regular preventive check-ups. MEDay brings a solution - concentrating a wide range of health services in one place and one time. From 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, specialists from different areas of health care will be available to provide not only examinations but also valuable advice for everyday health care.

What can you expect?

Nutritional advice

Dietitians will offer body composition measurements using the InBody device with expert interpretation of the results. You will learn about the basics of good nutrition through the food pyramid and healthy plate, and get information about the sugar content of common foods and drinks. Specialists will help you calculate basal metabolic rate (BMR) and total energy expenditure (CEP), which are key values for setting a healthy lifestyle.

Measurement of basic health parameters

You can have your blood pressure and blood glucose measured at stations staffed by medical and general nursing students. These simple tests can detect potential health risks before they become more serious symptoms.

Cancer prevention

MEDay will also include education about breast and testicular self-examination, including information about HPV. Experts from the "Don't Be Alone" project will offer skin mole checks and skin diagnostics, which are especially important before the upcoming summer season.

Care for the air

The Department of Optometry and Orthoptics will provide vision screening. Visitors will be able to test their color vision using color vision charts and learn about the focometer, a device used to measure the dioptric values of eyeglass lenses.

Other interesting stations

In addition to the services listed above, visitors can learn about proper hand hygiene, blood draw preparation and post-drawing behavior, or learn about the Senior Envelope. The Medicinal Plant Centre will introduce the world of aromatherapy and offer a tasting of herbal teas.

Why will MEDay be special?

Health is a team effort. MEDay brings together students, educators and professionals to help each other on the path to a healthier lifestyle. The event is an ideal opportunity to use your time effectively and gain valuable information about your own health and how to take care of yourself in the long term. In addition, with spring coming, it is the ideal time to make positive lifestyle changes that nutritionists and other experts can provide the right motivation for.
