The second edition of the preventive health event MEDay confirmed that prevention also has its place directly in the academic environment.
The Faculty of Medicine at Masaryk University and Westlake University in China have signed a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of an international laboratory that will serve as a platform for joint research in the field of genomics.
The Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University has signed a memorandum of understanding with China’s Westlake University. Professor Martin Repko, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Professor Duanqing Pei from the School of Life Sciences at Westlake University – who also heads the Center for Regenerative Medicine and Health at the Hong Kong Institute of Science and Innovation – confirmed with their signatures their interest in establishing a joint international laboratory that will serve as a platform for research in genomics.
Both parties will now actively look for opportunities to carry out research projects, publish their results and submit joint grant applications. An important pillar of the future cooperation is the exchange of research staff, which will allow scientists from the Faculty of Medicine to gain valuable experience in an overseas research environment.
Westlake University is a dynamic research institution founded in 2018 in the city of Chang‑zhou, Zhejiang Province, on China’s east coast. On two modern campuses its four faculties host more than 3 000 students and over 2 000 staff members from more than thirty countries. Among its research priorities are genetics, regenerative medicine and stem‑cell biology – fields in which researchers at the Faculty of Medicine also have extensive experience.
