New International Call Announced for Rare Disease Research

The European ERDERA partnership has launched its second joint transnational call: Resolving unsolved cases in rare genetic and non-genetic diseases

11 Dec 2025

The aim of the call is to:

  • Address the needs of patients with rare diseases and enable researchers to build effective, transnational, interdisciplinary research collaborations based on shared interests and expertise.
  • Resolve undiagnosed rare genetic diseases and tackle complex rare non-genetic diseases by identifying causal variants in patients for whom previous genetic or genomic testing has not resulted in a molecular diagnosis, thus providing diagnostic clarity for conditions with unknown or mixed pathogenesis.

National budget allocation for the call: EUR 500,000
Maximum funding per project: EUR 250,000
Eligible applicants: research organisations, enterprises, patient organisations
Required project consortium size: 4–6 partners from at least 4 different countries whose funding organisations participate in the call
Project duration: 3 years / 36 months

Proposal submission deadlines:

  • Pre-proposals: 12 February 2026
  • Full proposals: 8 July 2026
