GA ČR

Nine successful projects in this year’s GA ČR call

Of the nine projects supported, the faculty is the principal investigator in seven and a co-investigator in two. A total of CZK 70 million will be allocated to research on the topics listed below in the coming years.

Supported projects – principal investigator

  • Nicola Silva: Identification of novel factors assisting and counteracting BRCA2 activity during meiotic DNA repair in Caenorhabditis elegans
  • Lenka Bešše: ECPAS-Mediated Proteasome Remodeling as a Mechanism of Resistance to Proteasome Inhibition in Multiple Myeloma
  • Zuzana Kadlecová: AAK1 at the Nexus: How Kinase Mediated Regulation of Plexin Signaling Shapes Neuronal Growth Cone Guidance
  • David Šmajs: Identification of virulence factors of Treponema pallidum subspecies pallidum: from human transcriptomic data to in vitro characterization of strains
  • Martin Pešl: Melatonin in human cardiomyocytes: cellular functions in normal cells and heart failure model
  • Dáša Bohačiaková: Dissecting the Role of Axonal Transport and Neuronal Excitability in Neurodegeneration
  • Zuzana Holubcová: Reconstitution of mammalian centrosome after fertilisation

Apply for up to €400,000 to work with colleagues from at least two other European countries on projects aimed at innovating higher education.

Pilot call launched to support deep-tech innovations

The current call - Challenge 2–2026: Translating Disruptive New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) into Practice seeks breakthrough methods for preclinical research and testing of drugs or medical technologies. Innovations such as organ-on-chip, advanced 3D tissue models, digital twins, virtual patient simulations, or AI-driven predictive models are welcome.

Applicants must demonstrate TRL 4 (technology validated in the lab), have access to appropriate infrastructure, and show interest from at least one industrial or regulatory partner.

Deadline: 26 February 2026

Twinning

Reminder: Horizon Twinning Grant – upcoming call

This call supports the growth of scientific excellence and strengthening innovation capacity, enabling the development of a selected research area through collaboration with leading European institutions.

Supported activities: short-term visits and expert exchanges, joint workshops, summer schools, conference participation, and preparation of future research projects. Up to 30% of the budget can include a research component focused on new methods, technologies, and innovations.

Budget: €0.8–1.5 million
Deadline: 9 April 2026
Consortium: Masaryk University and at least two other institutions from two EU Member or Associated States.

Access EDUC Research Infrastructures

The European Digital UniverCity (EDUC) Alliance has opened its second call for research projects, allowing applicants to request access to EDUC research infrastructures. The call is open to PhD students and researchers from EDUC universities.
