Faculty Publication Fund

Updated rules of the Publication Fund

As of 1 January 2026, revised rules of the Publication Fund apply:

  • The publication is classified in the 1st quartile (Q1) of the Web of Science category according to Impact Factor, and the first or corresponding author is affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University (FM MU).
  • The publication is classified in the 2nd quartile (Q2) of the Web of Science category according to Impact Factor, and the first or corresponding author is a PhD student of the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University, with affiliation to FM MU.
  • In the case of collaboration involving multiple organisational units within Masaryk University, more than 50% of the home authors must be affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine, and the Faculty of Medicine must be indicated as holding the majority share in the MU Information System.
  • The journal complies with the principles of transparency and best practice in scholarly publishing*.
  • Support from the Publication Fund may be requested only if the applicant has no other financial resources available to cover publication costs, including project funds, departmental resources, or university publishing discounts.
  • In the event of insufficient financial resources within the Publication Fund, the Head of the Department (or equivalent unit) listed in the application undertakes to cover the outstanding costs from departmental resources. The Head of the Department must confirm their consent in the MU Information System (IS MU).

* Predatory publishing prevention – In view of emerging new models of predatory practices by publishers, increased attention is recommended to suspicious indicators that conflict with the principles of good scholarly publishing practice, in particular journals that publish a large number of articles in so-called special issues. Compliance with best practices in scholarly publishing is verified through the University Campus Library service.
