Project information
Use of Raman spectroscopy for differentiation among pathogens causing urinary tract and bloodstream infections (Raman spectroscopy for UTIs and BSIs)

The aim of this project is to test a possibility to distinguish among pathogens causing urinary tract infections and bloodstream infections after cultivation on agar plates by Raman spectroscopy. The project will also include examination of a possibility to identify microbes directly from a sample. This will accelerate identification of a pathogen, help with treatment decision, lower the costs for diagnostics and a treatment itself, and above all, save lives of many patients.
