achievements

Six projects of researchers from LF MU received an excellent grade in the final evaluation. These were 5 projects submitted to the Czech Health Research Council and 1 project submitted to the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic. Project. One AZV project, whose principal investigator is the Dean of our Faculty, Professor Martin Repko, was nominated for the Award of the Minister of Health. More about the successful projects here

Scientists from our Centre of Excellence CREATIC, involved in the Brno node of the National Cancer Research Institute, have developed personalised cancer vaccines for the treatment of paediatric patients with high-risk tumours. The results of the study on the vaccine's efficacy were published in the prestigious peer-reviewed International Journal of Cancer. Professor Jaroslav Štěrba, Head of the Department of Paediatric Oncology at the Faculty of Medicine and Medical University in Brno, spoke about the topic on Czech TV.

The study on the unique treatment of two siblings was published in the prestigious journal Nature - NPJ Precision Oncology. The team of authors from the Faculty of Medicine, CEITEC MU, Faculty of Science, joint departments at the University Hospital Brno and collaborating Canadian institutions described a specialised immunotherapy for a rare cancer syndrome in two siblings with a rare tumour predisposition. Zuzana Holubcová in Studio 6 on ČT24. The earliest stages of human life are full of obstacles and the birth of a healthy child is not as commonplace as it might seem. The head of the research group from the Department of Histology and Embryology spoke about the first moments of human embryo development and the benefits of their research. Lenka Zdražilová Dubská, head of the research group Innovative ATMP for rare diseases. The research of Professor Zdražilová Dubská from the Centre of Excellence of the MU CREATIC and the Brno node of the National Institute for Cancer Research is focused on innovations in modern therapies for rare diseases and the development of somatic cell and combination therapies for the treatment of patients with "butterfly wing disease" (epidermolysis bullosa) or gene therapy for children with the rare malignant disease neuroblastoma. Recent results of the team's research have been published in the International Journal of Cancer Personalized dendritic cell vaccine in multimodal individualized combination therapy improves survival in high-risk pediatric cancer patients).
