Here is an overview of the most interesting achievements in science and research at our faculty leading up to the summer break.
Our faculty has confirmed its status as an outstanding research institution
In 2025, the Faculty of Medicine and Masaryk University as a whole underwent its second national evaluation of higher education institutions. The Czech Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports has now published the evaluation results compiled by international evaluators. Both the faculty and the university received an overall grade of A, meaning “excellent.” This confirms our position among the leaders in Czech biomedical research.
Last year, all faculties at Masaryk University underwent a comprehensive national evaluation of higher education institutions. Our faculty received an A rating—excellent. It thus reaffirmed its position among the leading institutions in biomedical research, not only in the Czech Republic but also internationally.
The international evaluation panel recognised not only the quality of the research environment, systematic management, and strategic development of science, but also the doctoral program’s concept, internationalisation, greater involvement in European projects, and the implementation of recommendations from the 2020 evaluation.
Tomáš Kašpárek, Vice Dean for Science and Doctoral Studies at the Faculty of Medicine, emphasised in his commentary in an article in Magazín M that our faculty’s evaluation is the result of long-term strategic work and support for excellent research. “We are pleased that we have leveraged the integration of three processes—the evaluation by an international evaluation panel, the internal evaluation of research and doctoral studies, and the HR Award—to bring about systematic changes in the research environment at the faculty. This is a comprehensive set of measures that includes both individual support for research topics—such as the formation of research groups, competitions for funding postdocs or start-up projects—and faculty-wide services for individualised project support, scouting, and the development of applied research, as well as steps to build a community of researchers at the faculty, such as Research Breakfasts or Research Day.”
