| Description | Ovarian cancer is a highly lethal disease among all gynecologic malignancies and it is the second most common cancer of female reproductive organs. In the Czech Republic we refer 1.174 of new cases in the year 2010. That equals to the incidence of 21, 9 cases of ovarian cancer related to 100.000 women. We report mortality incidence of 14, 1 per 100.000 women, that corresponds with 753 lethal cases during the same year. The reason of extremely high mortality of this disease is the late onset of diagnosis. Two thirds of cases are primary diagnosed in higher stages of the disease. |
