Description Duplex ultrasound is a noninvasive medical test used to diagnose diseases of the deep and superficial venous system. It is important to know the anatomy of venous system and the ultrasound principles. B mode is used to assess the vascular structures and their morphology. Doppler ultrasound is a technique that evaluates blood flow through a blood vessel. The most common reason for a venous ultrasound exam is to search for deep vein thrombosis.
