Description Obstructive defecation syndrome is defined as disorder of several neurological and anatomicalphysiological factors of defecation, such as intestinal motility and absorption, anorectal sensation and muscular coordination. Obstructive defecation syndrome is one of the main causes of primary, terminal constipation. After ineffective conservative therapy and rehabilitation, a number of surgical solutions come to the forefront. The goal of treatment is reduction of prolapse, continence recovery, defecation adjustment, prevention of constipation and last but not least improvement of quality of life. The right choice of optimal surgical method is still discussed. Resection of internal prolapse by stapler is an effective, time-saving and relatively simple method (method called STARR). It can´t be indicated in complete prolapse of rectum, thus it is intended for patients with lower grade of rectal prolapse, intrarectal intususception and rectocele. Procedure consist in perianal circular resection of the weakening of the rectal mucosa and at the same time placation the edges of mucosa, that was resected. This miniinvasive method is advantageous due to its minimal postoperative complications and shortterm hospitalization.
