Description Source of the epidemiological data from 1977 is the National Oncological Registry of the Czech Republic. National wide screening programme has started in September 2002. Our aim is to prove the benefit of national wide breast cancer screening programme in the Czech Republic by using Markov chain model. We want to use Markov modelling for solving these problems: Is screening in the Czech Republic effective in reducing mortality? Is our screening programme cost effective? Is it more effective to screen women under age 45? Is it more effective to screen women in the age group 45-74? Is it more appropriate interscreening interval for the population of the Czech Republic?
