Description Such an apparently simple problem as relief of postoperative pain management remains largely unsolved. In Czech Republic we observe development to better care in this field. Second edition brings recommendations for management of mild, moderate and severe acute pain, comprehensive review of analgesics for parenteral and enteral (oral) administration, patient-controlled analgesia, special techniques of regional analgesia. Special part contains pain management in newborns and infants, in pregnancy and during breast-feeding, pain in burns and its treatment, management of pain in elderly, management of pain in one-day surgery. More stressed is the organization of postoperative pain management and the role of nurses – nurses-based postoperative pain management. For: anaesthesiologists, surgeons, urologists, gynaecologists, obstetricians, traumatlogists, oncologists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, cardiosurgeons, for emergency departments.
