Description Primary prevention demonstrably and significantly contributes to quality of health and human life. With a responsible approach, the general practitioner has an active role to play in prevention, for it is the GP that leads his client/patient through the health care systém throughout their whole life. The only break point in contínuity of healthcare provision is the transfer from paediatric practitioners surgery to the general practitioners surgery. Primary prevention is aimed at those who are still healthy so, undeniably, their active participation is required, The situation is getting better from this point of view and we can see a more active attitude from individuals who care about their health. But not with such desired effects, for example in the incidence of lifestyle diseases. The research presented was canducted in a form of questionnaires and was aimed at management of workload in connection with primary prevention in the general practitíoners surgery. This paper highlights selected results of research in primary care among GPs, their opinions on, and experíence with, primary prevention.
