Description The compendium of wound care management is written as a guide book for nurses who are looking after patients with wound healing difficulities. The compendium offers a brief but complete summary of recent information in clinical practice. This publication briefly outlines basic anatomy and physiology and summarises how this is applied to clinical nursing practice. This compendium will assist nurses to identify difficult healing wound and provide a template to improve the documentation of healing, infection and exudate within a continuum. Also chapters of nosocomial infection (hospital-acquired infection) are not neglected for their high incidence in the relation to wound infection. The guidebook provides information on diagnosis and treatment of the most common non-healing wounds such as varicose ulcers, bedsores and diabetic foot ulcers. Attention is given to nursing competencies and current legislation. Much of the information within the compendium is clearly presented in graphic or tabular formats. It is hoped that this will provide easy access for the reader. This guidebook is suitable for informing general nurses in clinical practice and may also be used as a resource for medical and nursing students. The compendium may also be of interest to the relatives or carers of patients with non-healing or chronic wound.
