Description The current demographic situation predetermines the current global trend of an increase in absolute and relative number of seniors. This is most noticeable in those very old and very demanding dysaptibilních requiring professional care. In the process of selecting the optimal drug for the elderly must always be taken into account dosing regimens of drugs and drug interactions. Elderly living in residential care consume three times more drugs in comparison with the same number of individuals and entire populations double in women compared to men. Because the maximum elimination of side effects of pharmacotherapy should be respected therapeutic principles generally accepted in old age: A) Minimum medicines, B) Serving drugs shortest possible time; C) Heal low but effective doses, D) Consider drug interactions E)-Heal nonpharmacological if you can.
