Description Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease that affects approximately 1% of the population. Damage of the structure of musculoskeletal system leads to the significant decrease of physical functions, develop of work disability and decrease of quality of life. The chapter focuses on modern treatment of rheumatoid arthritis with the biological disease modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs). The new treatment strategies, position of the biological DMARDs in the treatment algorithms and the new goals of the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis are discussed. The positions of the individual biological DMARDs in the therapy of rheumatoid arthritis are described at the end of the chapter.
