| Description | Chapter introduces the basic principles of MODS (multiple organ dysfunction syndrome). From the introduction to a definition of the problem is largely devoted to the known pathophysiology of this syndrome. Changes at the level of organs, cells and molecular mechanisms are largely discussed. Attention is focused mainly on the microcirculation failure, the role of oxidative stress and nitric oxide, and finally the issue of mitochondrial dysfunction. Then is mentioned clinical presentation and diagnosis. The conclusion is devoted mainly to the syndrome therapy. |
