Description Tooth agenesis is one of the most common de- velopmental anomalies in humans. Tooth development (odontogenesis) is a very complicated and complex pro- cess that involves interplay between oral ectoderm and mesenchyme. These interactions are mediated by more than 350 signaling proteins. Synergistic and antagonistic interactions between these proteins may lead to local ac- tivation or inhibition of the expression. The aim of our study was to investigate the relationship between PAX9 and MSX1 genes variants and tooth agenesis in the Czech population.
