Description The median life in industrial countries has almost doubled as compared to the beginning of the 20-ieth century. This fact practically results in significant increase of the group of people over 65 years (14-20 %) A significant increase was also observed in a group of old old (75 and more) subjects of whom multimorbidity is typical. Gastrointestinal tract (GIT) represents a significant group of diseases mainly in seniors. This paper briefly outlines the specifics of GIT diseases generally and some diseases occuring quite frequently in seniors. The GIT diseases with their manifestations may be bothersome and even life threatening for these patients. In this review paper the authors analyze the diseases of esophagus, stomach, duodenum and intestines.
