Description Aim. The aim of the study is to asses contribution and possibilities of contrast enhanced ultrasound in assessment of Crohn disease activity. Method. Sixty one patients underwent colonoscopy (as reference method), native bowel ultrasound examination and contrast enhanced ultrasound examination with further software quantification analysis. Results. The calculated values of sensitivity/ specifity in determining Crohn disease bowel inflammation activity by native ultrasound were 83,3/77,8%. The contrast enhanced ultrasound by using Peak Intensity parametr reached sensitivity/specifity 90,7/83,7%. Statistically significant difference was confirmed also by using subjective evaluation of bowel wall contrast enhancement and quantification parametr Time to Peak. Conclusion. Contrast enhanced bowel ultrasound proved higher sensitivity and specificity compared to native examination and its use could be contribution in ambiguous or borderline results of native examination.
