Description Functional gastrointestinal disorders, better defined as disorders of gut-brain interaction are clinical futures without a structural basis. Symptoms are generated based on a complex interaction among factors such as visceral hypersensitivity, altered mucosal immune function, microbial dysbiosis within the gut and central nervous system function dysregulation. This review is focused on functional esophageal disorders and their treatment based on latest Rome IV classification.
