Description |
In this work the enhancement effect of Nanoparticle Enhanced Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (NELIBS)1,2 in respect to conventional LIBS approach was studied in detail. As it was already observed the enhancement takes place only for certain emission lines in the measured spectral range, in our case from 250 till 900 nm. The focus is given on the study of this selectivity in connection to the quantum properties of emission lines (values of upper energy levels and Einstein coefficients of chosen emission lines) together with the line position in measured spectral range. Moreover, the optimization of parameters as size of the laser ablation spot and concentration of nanoparticles involved in the ablation process together with standard LIBS parameters took place in order to achieve highest improvement of limits of detection. NELIBS measurements were performed on different metallic alloys with the 20 nm spherical silver nanoparticles applied on the sample surface and the emission lines of minor and trace elements were chosen for the analysis.
