Description About 20% of patients suffer from venous thromboembolism (VTE) during oncology disease. Active cancer, along with cancer therapy, increases risk of the probability of VTE especially in the first 6 months after diagnosis. Management of VTE is a part of everyday practice of oncologist, who should know the basic recommendations regarding individual medical procedures and clinical situations that may occur in cancer patients and should be able to adequately solve. It is necessary to think about some specifics during profylaxis, diagnostics and treatment of venous thromboembolism in cancer care. The text contains a summary of the recommendations applicable in routine clinical practice.
