Description Paraneoplastic syndromes are distant symptoms which are not directly caused by the primary tumour or metastases, but they are a heterogeneous group of symptoms associated with a malignancy. Paraneoplastic symptoms are very common with bronchogenic carcinoma and they can be the first signal of the presence of the disease. They can be expected to occur in 10-20% of the patients with lung cancer, especially with small cell carcinomas. In our article we deal with the most frequent paraneoplastic syndromes appearing concurrently with lung cancer and we also mention carcinoid syndrome.
