Description According to its new definition, Sepsis is a life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection and is one of the leading causes of mortality in critically ill patients. Ongoing research tries to test new potential biomarkers that could contribute to more accurate diagnosis, predict outcome and be helpful in management of targeted therapy. This review tries to describe some of the new potential biomarkers in context of pathophysiological mechanisms.
