Description The aim of the presented work was to describe the health literacy of pregnant women, to identify the factors that determine it and to comment on the effectiveness of current prenatal counseling in this area. The method used to collect data in our research was a questionnaire. The research sample consisted of 360 women in the puerperium. This was a multiple, quota, proportionally stratified selection. The file was assessed in terms of education, parity, age, residence and long-term contact with midwife in pregnancy. For statistical data processing, Pearson's chi-quadrate and the Anova test (scattering analysis) were used. The best health literacy was found in women with university education and women in long-term contact with midwives.
