Description Especially in the season of respiratory infections are so called "recurrent respiratory infections" pretty frequent reason for visit of GP. Relatively rare conditions, requiring specific care, may be primary and secondary immunodeficiencies. Therefore, a comprehensive health assessment of every patient is always the basis for safe and effective immunomodulation. At the presence a number of immunomodulatory products are available in pharmacies. Authorised medicinal products have the evidence of effects reported by serious double-blind placebo controlled studies. Other places occupy food supplements where only harmfulness is warranted at the recommended dose. Many of them are not proven by studies according to the rules of evidence-based medicine. In this review I present the results of available clinical trials of immunomodulators applicable in primary practice.
