Description The goal of intensive care is to save life and health while maintaining an acceptable level of quality of life for the patient. At some point in the patient's disease trajectory, this goal may no longer be unrealistic, and continuing with so-called life-sustaining therapy / organ support is inadequate and only prolongs the patient's suffering and death. More and more patients are dying in intensive care, especially after the cessation or non-expansion of this organ support.
