Description | N-acetylating capacity was determined in 61 patients with schizophrenia and 49 patients with depressive disorder using sulphadimidine phenotyping test. The results were compared with those within the group of 51 healthy volunteers. In patients with schizophrenia there was increased occurence of slow acetylators (68.8 % SA) in comparison with healthy individuals 58.8 % SA) as well as with patients with depression (55.1 % SA). Preponderance of SA in psychotic patients may be a cause of a higher risk of therapy with substrate drugs. |
