Description A case-report of a patient with a relatively mild form of X-linked agammaglobulinemia treated by intramuscular immunoglobulin is reported. Because of dissatisfaction with the immunoglobulin treatment the patient consulted a specialist in homeopathy who suggested discontinuation of the immunoglobulin treatment. Approximately 4 months after the discontinuation the patient had got an upper respiratory tract infection which progressed into pneumonia and pericarditis with shock, fortunately due to intensive treatment the patient survived this complication. Insufficient education of the patient in the character of the disease and the necessity of adequate treatment seems to be one of important aspects leading to this complication.
