Description Breast cancer is the most common malignant disease in women . Because of its high incidence and mortality, breast cancer is also important community problem. Despite the biologic and clinical advances that have been made in breast cancer diagnostic and treatment during the last 25 years, there is no corresponding reduction of mortality. Breast cancer patients with the same stage of disease can have markedly different treatment responses and overall outcome. It is believed that these discrepances in clinical behavior are due to molecular differences between histologically similar tumors. DNA microarray technology is capable to reveal such molecular differences. Looking back to DNA microarray studies, that results have been published until now, we can state that all our expectations put in this technology, were filled up. Mainly, the breast cancer molecular taxonomy and predictive systems based on gene expression profiling are the most promising results with the direct impact on the clinical practice.
