Description The aim of this statement is an evaluation of accuracy and reliability of the ultrasound examination in diagnostics of disk dislocation of the mandibular joint, if compared with magnetic resonance examination. Availability, severity and costs are further criteria for comaprison of the above methods. At present twenty five patients with symptoms of mandibular joint dysfunction are filed in the study. Dysfunctional mandibular joints are being examined both with ultrasound and magnetic resonance to detect abnormities of position of the articular disk. Ultrasound is reviewed comparing with magnetic resonance as a golden standard. Present results show that ultrasound examination is a method applicable both for detection of normal position of the articular disk and for detection of disco-condylar relation abnormities.
