Description Patients was refered to the surgical treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease mainly for the failure of the conservative treatment and with complications of GERD. Modern treatment with proton pump inhibitors is very effective. Laparoscopic antireflux surgery is alternative procedure for the long-time conservative treatment. Preoperative examination have only limited options of prediction risk factors for postoperative dysphagia. Postoperative dyshagia was the most frequent in patients with atypical symptomatology and abscence of typical symptoms, and in patients with bad response to medical therapy PPI. These negative prognostic factors were more frequently found in the females. We conclude, that routine use of preoperative functional oesophageal measurement is controversial, because according to our results the preoperative pH metry and manometry cannot predict postoperative dysphagia.
