Description Only limited amount of data is available about the prevalence of injuries in the living population. The goal of this paper is to contribute to the study of the accident morbidity from the standpoint of its currently existing prevalence in a sample of inhabitants of Brno - parents from the ELSPAC study. Data on accidents and injuries were recorded from personal health history included in quesrionnaires. Information processed includes data on accidents occuring during sports and games, cycling, brawls, falls, sexual attacks, transport and injuries caused by parents or other persons.A comparison of prevalence parameters between men and women suggests a higher rate of injuries in men and their higher health care consumption, especially in-patient.
