Description This article describes a content inventory for a foundational biomedical device physics study unit for multi-professional healthcare student groups. The inventory provides a framework which is structured enough to guide curriculum development in a harmonized manner on a European scale whilst still allowing for desired national and local variations. The quantity and level of content is designed to be sufficient for the less device-intensive professions whilst also serving as a springboard for subsequent more specialized profession-specific units for those professions which use devices more extensively. This shared knowledge base will facilitate communication regarding medical devices between the various professions practicing within the healthcare system.
