| Description | The constructi on and launch of the cyclotron and PET centre at the Masaryk Memori al Cancer Institute, which is run in co operati on with the Nucle ar Rese arch Institute Řež, allows the Masaryk Memori al Cancer Institute to engage in the rese arch, development and applicati on of new radi opharmace uticals including compo unds labelled by short living positron emitters (especially 11C). For the immedi ate future, new projects are planned, e. g. using the proliferati on marker 18F fluoro L thymidine, or ne urooncological studi es using the prote osynthesis and amino acid transport marker 11C methi onine, and eventu ally also other compo unds applicable o utside of oncology. The existence of the PET centre at the Masaryk Memori al Cancer Institute therefore offers a wide range of possibiliti es to both pati ents and physici ans in the Brno regi on and beyond. |
