Description In the intensive medicine, we can in the psychiatric problems in general, meet with the state, which can be described as confusion. Effectively a qualitative disturbance of consciousness associated with disorientation in time and space. Threatens always a risk with her auto-, possibly heteroaggressive behaviour. It is always necessary to hunt around for the first for the controllable causes, such as somatic illness, intoxication, or stroking and other in anamnesis identifiable disease. Managing the state of confusion in the intensive care in general will consist of: a) non-pharmacological and lifestyle measures (psychological effects, physical restraint), b). pharmacological therapy (use of psychotropic drugs) Dementia: a permanent and progressive memory impairment loss of mental function, which is significantly of chronic character. Itself is usually not unlike delirium associated with impaired orientation, there is the normal state of consciousness, response to surroundings stimuli is stable.
