Description The authors present the results of grant project IGA MZ CR aimed at detection of cases of sudden death among young people under 40 years of age, where even after an autopsy performed, and other laboratory studies at the Institute of Forensic Medicine, we are unable to determine the exact cause of death. In these cases it is assumed a malignant cardiac arrhythmia as a possible etiology of death. The project aims to establish a genetic analysis of these sudden deaths of individuals to determine the frequency of genetic pathologies related to malignant arrhythmias and cardiomyopathies and clinical examination of survivors focused on identifying families at risk of sudden cardiac death. Identification of sudden death causes and the examination of survivors allow to identify these congenital disorders and offer to relatives appropriate therapy and prevention of sudden death. Intended tracking of sudden deaths in the South Moravian region foresees the cooperation of forensic doctor, cardiologist and genetics. The contact of forensic doctor with relatives is essential for the fulfillment of these objectives. Relations are subsequently informed about the project and to the direct relatives of the deceased is also offered clinical examination by cardiologist. The authors ask doctors of rescue services for help. It is these doctors who are often the first to come into contact with the relations of the young deceased and thus can provide much needed contact with them for the forensic doctors. The submission was sponsored by the grant IGA MZ CR, NS Reg No. 10444-3
