| Description | Effective periodontal debridement with scalers and curettes is possible only with sharp instruments. Sharp cutting edge allows working more precisely, quickly and without excessive pressure. The goal of instrument sharpening is to restore a fine sharp cutting edge to a dull instrument. Correct sharpening requires knowledge of the design characteristics of scalers and curettes, methods of evaluating sharpness and proper sharpening technique. |
