| Description | The article deals with the nutrition policy assessment tool "NOURISHING policy index" and the results of the assessment of the Czech Republic in comparison with 30 European countries. The basic background and the development of the NOURISHING Framework, developed within the European initiative CO_CREATE and implemented in cooperation with the World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) and the Norwegian National Institute of Health, are described. The initial impulses and goal was to address the epidemic of childhood obesity, but very quickly the relevance expanded into the prevention of non-communicable diseases in general and the promotion of public health. The assessment system, the different items assessed, and the criteria are explained. The results of a comparison of 30 European countries are described. Detailed results for the Czech Republic for 2023 are summarised. The evaluation notes major gaps in nutrition policy and ranks the Czech Republic among the four worst countries. |
