Description This study characterized changes within 24 hours in several cardiovascular variables obtained with the ABPMpro Research model from Somnomedics (Randersacker, Germany). Within one month in the spring of 2025, several 24-hour profiles of blood pressure (BP) and heart rate (HR) were obtained from four volunteers. Activity was also captured by an accelerometer embedded in the device, as was body position. Some recordings included signals from 3-lead electrocardiographic (ECG) and photoplethysmographic (PPG) sensors attached to the device. Data were analyzed chronobiologically, using the multiple-component cosinor, least squares spectra, and the population-mean cosinor. Body position during sleep markedly affected BP. A 24-hour rhythm was detected with statistical significance in most individual records, accounting for a sizeable proportion of the overall variance. Results were compared to those from a previous small study, which used a tonometer from HDI (Eagan, MN, USA) to obtain 30-second records at different times of day. Large- and small-arterial compliance estimated from a modified Windkessel model also undergo marked predictable 24-hour variations. As predictors of cardiovascular disease risk, these endpoints derived from the beat-to-beat BP waveform – or variations therefrom – would be valuable additions to the current capabilities of the ABPMpro monitor.
